Listen:
We have some dynamite artists this episode.
Our artists tonight all have one common thread; they’ve all recorded at the same studio: Its Not Rocket Science records . INRS is an amazing new studio in DC run by Kelly, a NASA scientist by day, and music producer by night. Her little studio on U St. packs an amazing punch, and her production is top notch.
Our first song this evening is by a group called the Secret Buttons, titled The Watchman. The song embodies elegance…it is simple, yet very moving. It retells the classic Sufi love story of Layli and Majnoon. It is a beautiful metaphor for the individual’s search for truth.
We continue with John Hicks . John takes a passage from the Baha’i writings about sacrifice, and places it into a really neat composition. Its hard to explain the style without hearing it; all I know is that I really like it.
Finally, our guest tonight is Luke Slott. He’s an amazing guy. His music is beautiful, he plays at a multitude of instruments, was signed to a major label deal before he was even out of high school. All that aside, he’s also one of the most humble guys I’ve ever had the chance to meet.
Look out in coming weeks when we will have a full Broadcast of Luke’s performance in Washington DC…
This podcast also contains background music by Kevin MacLeod (http://incompetech.com): Acid Jazz, Comfortable Mystery.
