This show has been a long time in the making. It was started back in New Jersey sometime in July, and was put on hold in August when the move happened.  Since the move, it has taken a while for everything to settle down. DC is a great place, and I think there are a lot of great artists and thinkers who will provide a some solid material for future shows.

Our guest this episode is Anis Mojgani. Anis is a spoken word artist /slam poet who has been making waves over the past couple of years. He just won his second national title for Poetry Slam, and is in the process of filming material for Def Poetry Jam. I caught up with him in NYC when he was doing a reading this summer.  New York is a funny place because you always see celebrities walking around. Thus, its kind of a game to figure out who the celebrity is who just walked by. Since we were doing this interview in a public place, people kept stopping and trying to figure out who Anis was. You’ll hear New York in all its glory in the interview; we recorded live in the middle of Union Square.

As always, we have new artists this evening. The first is Kelsey Bulkin. Kelsey is a musician in California who has a really nice sound. Whether accompanied by her guitar playing, or just a minimal beat, she has an amazingly smooth voice that only gets more powerful when coupled with her uplifting lyrics. This is just the type of music I needed to really pick me up on a lazy fall day.

Our next artist is Katie Cook. She currently just sings for fun, but every time I heard her singing at local events I knew I had to record her. Katie came over and recorded four songs in the Next Level Studio right before the move. This show we have an original composition of hers entitled “Hand to Hand”.

Finally, we have some music from Devon Gundry. Devon has been working hard to establish himself in the LA music scene, and has a solid EP out of selections from the Baha’i writings set to music. He takes an indy-alternative approach to his music, and the result is quite powerful.
